창 30:25-36
Genesis 30:25-36
사람은 누구나 자신의 집을 소유하기를 원합니다.
Everyone wants to own their own home.
야곱도 자신의 집을 소유하기를 원했습니다.
Jacob also wanted to own his own home.
야곱은 나는 언제나 집을 소유할가?
Jacob asked, "When will I ever own a home?"
여러분도 자신의 집을 소유하기를 원하시지요?
Do you also want to own your home?
사람들은 누구나 자신의 사업체를 소유하고 싶어합니다.
People want to own their own businesses.
야곱도 자신의 사업체를 소유하기를 원했습니다.
Jacob also wanted to own his own business.
야곱은 언제나 내 사업체를 소유할까?
Jacob asked, "When will I ever own my business?"
여러분도 여러분의 사업체를 소유하기를 원하시지요?
Do you also want to own your own business?
그러기 위하여 어떤 노력을 하시나요?
What efforts are you making to do that?
야곱은 나이가 55세 정도 되었습니다.
Jacob was about 55 years old.
야곱은 그의 외삼촌 라반의 집에서 14년을 봉사했습니다.
Jacob served in his uncle Laban's house for 14 years.
14년 동안 봉사를 한다는 것은 쉬운일이 아닙니다.
Serving for 14 years is not an easy task.
꾸준함과 성실함이 있어야 가능합니다.
It is possible with persistence and sincerity.
야곱의 재산은 아무것도 없었습니다.
Jacob had nothing of his own.
그러는 동안 라반의 재산은 늘어났습니다.
During that time, Laban's wealth increased.
더군다나 야곱은 자녀가 많아졌습니다.
Moreover, Jacob had many children.
자녀가 많은 야곱은 자녀들을 부양할 일이 너무나 컸습니다.
With many children, Jacob had the responsibility of providing for them.
하지만 야곱은 처음부터 그래왔던 것처럼 자신의 몫을 챙기면서 일하지 않았습니다.
But Jacob did not work for his share as he had from the beginning.
쉽지 않은 삶입니다.
It’s not an easy life.
하지만 요셉은 자신의 아내들의 아버지에게 예의를 차렸습니다.
But Joseph was courteous to the father of his wives.
야곱은 요셉을 낳은 후에 그의 장인에게 말했습니다.
After Jacob had Joseph, he said to his father-in-law:
야곱은 자신 재산을 먼저 구하지 않았습니다.
Jacob did not ask for his asset first.
야곱은 그의 장인에게 자녀들을 위하여 구하지 않았습니다.
Jacob did not ask his father-in-law for his children.
그는 먼저 고향 땅으로 가는 길을 찾았습니다.
He first sought a way to return to his hometown.
그리고 그는 자신의 자녀들도 함께 가게해달라고 하였습니다.
And he asked his children to go with him.
"제가 고향 땅으로 돌아갈 수 있도록, 저를 보내 주십시오.
"Send me on my way so I can go back to my homeland.
창 30:26. 장인 어른의 일을 해 드리고 얻은 저의 처들과 자식들도, 제가 데리고 가게 허락하여 주십시오.
Genesis 30:26. Give me my wives and children, for whom I have served you, and I will be on my way. You know how much work I’ve done for you.
야곱은 우선 가족과 함께하는 것이 우선이었습니다.
Jacob's priority was to be with his family.
그리고 나서야 자신의 몫을 챙겼습니다.
And only then did he get his share.
야곱은 고향 땅이 있다는 것이 행복이었습니다.
Having a hometown made Jacob happy.
여러분은 돌아갈 고향이 있습니까?
Do you have a hometown to return to?
저도 돌아갈 고향이 있습니다.
I also have a hometown to return to.
저의 부모님이 살았계셨을 때는 늘 저를 기다렸습니다.
When my parents were alive, they always waited for me.
부모님이 기다리시는 고향은 시간이 많이 걸려도 괜찮습니다.
It didn't matter how long it took to reach the hometown where my parents were waiting.
실제로 제 고향은 서울에서 넉넉잡아 5시간 정도 걸리는 곳이었습니다.
My hometown was about a 5-hour drive from Seoul.
그런데 명절 때가 되면 고향가는 사람들이 많아집니다.
But during the holidays, many people go to their hometowns.
제가 30여 년전에 고향 가는 길이었습니다.
About 30 years ago, I went to my hometown.
그때 고향가는 길에 걸리는 시간은 약 30시간 이었습니다.
It took about 30 hours to get there.
그래도 그때는 부모님이 살아 계실 때입니다.
But at that time, my parents were still alive.
우리들을 기다리는 부모님 때문에 고향 가는 길이 멀지 않게 느껴졌습니다.
The road to our hometown didn't feel so long because our parents were waiting for us.
그런데 지금은 저를 기다려 주는 별로 사람이 없습니다.
But now, there are not many people waiting for me.
지금은 저의 부모님이 돌아 가셨기 때문입니다.
It's because my parents have passed away.
여러분 부모님이 살아계실 때 효도 하시기 바랍니다.
Please honor your parents while they are alive.
여러분 부모님이 돌아 가시고 나면 효도를 할 수 없습니다.
Once your parents are gone, you cannot honor them anymore.
여러분 부모님이 살아계실 자주 찾아 뵈시기 바랍니다.
Please visit your parents often while they are alive.
여러분 부모님이 안 계시면 찾아 뵐수 없습니다.
If your parents are not with us, you cannot visit them.
야곱은 집에서 도망 나온후 최소 14년간 집에 갈 수 없었습니다.
After Jacob ran away from home, he couldn't go home for at least 14 years.
그래서 집에 가는 것이 우선순위였을 것입니다.
So going home would have been a priority.
계속해서 야곱은 이렇게 말합니다.
Continuing, Jacob said:
제가 장인 어른의 일을 얼마나 많이 해 드렸는가 하는 것은, 장인께서 잘 아십니다."
You know how much work I've done for you."
27. 라반이 그에게 말하였다. "자네가 나를 좋아하면, 여기에 머물러 있기를 바라네.
But Laban said to him, "If I have found favor in your eyes, please stay.
주께서 자네를 보시고 나에게 복을 주신 것을, 내가 점을 쳐 보고서 알았네."
I have learned by divination that the LORD has blessed me because of you."
28. 라반은 또 덧붙였다.
28. He added.
"자네의 품삯은 자네가 정하게. 정하는 그대로 주겠네."
"Name your wages, and I will pay them."
29. 야곱이 그에게 말하였다.
29. Jacob said to him
"제가 장인 어른의 일을 어떻게 해 드리고, 장인 어른의 가축 떼를 얼마나 잘 보살폈는지는, 장인께서 잘 아십니다.
"You know how I have worked for you and how your livestock has fared under my care.
30. 제가 여기에 오기 전에는, 장인 어른의 소유가 얼마 되지 않았으나, 이제 떼가 크게 불어났습니다.
30 The little you had before I came has increased greatly,
주께서는, 제가 하는 수고를 보시고서, 장인 어른에게 복을 주셨습니다.
and the Lord has blessed you wherever I have been.
그러나 이제는, 제가 저의 살림을 챙겨야 할 때가 되었다고 봅니다."
But now, when may I do something for my own household?”
31. 라반이 물었다. "그러면 내가 자네에게 무엇을 주면 좋겠는가?"
"What shall I give you?" he asked.
야곱이 대답하였다.
Jacob replied,
"무엇을 달라는 것이 아닙니다.
"Don't give me anything,
다만, 저에게 한 가지 일만 허락하여 주시면, 제가 장인 어른의 가축 떼를 계속 먹이고 돌보겠습니다.
"But if you will do this one thing for me, I will go on tending your flocks and watching over them.
32. 오늘, 제가 장인 어른의 가축 떼 사이로 두루 다니면서, 모든 양 떼에서 얼룩진 것들과 점이 있는 것과 모든 검은 새끼 양을 가려내고, 염소 떼에서도 점이 있는 것들과 얼룩진 것들을 가려낼 터이니, 그것들을 저에게 삯으로 주십시오.
32 Let me go through all your flocks today and remove from them every speckled or spotted sheep, every dark-colored lamb and every spotted or speckled goat. They will be my wages.
33. 제가 정직하다는 것은, 훗날 장인께서 저에게 삯으로 주신 가축 떼를 확인하여 보실 때에 증명될 것입니다. 제가 가진 것 가운데서, 얼룩지지 않은 양이나 점이 없는 양이 있든지, 검은 색이 아닌 새끼 양이 있으면, 그것들은 모두 제가 훔친 것이 될 것입니다."
33 And my honesty will testify for me in the future, whenever you check on the wages you have paid me. Any goat in my possession that is not speckled or spotted, or any lamb that is not dark-colored, will be considered stolen."
34. 라반이 말하였다. "그러세. 자네가 말한 대로 하겠네."
34 "Agreed," said Laban. "Let it be as you have said."
하나님은 야곱에게 복을 주셨습니다.
God blessed Jacob.
야곱은 열심히 목자의 사명을 감당 했습니다.
Jacob faithfully fulfilled his duty as a shepherd.
훗날에 야곱의 소유가 늘어났습니다.
Later in the future, Jacob's possessions increased.
창 30:43. 이렇게 하여, 야곱은 아주 큰 부자가 되었다. 야곱은 가축 떼뿐만 아니라, 남종과 여종, 낙타와 나귀도 많이 가지게 되었다.
Genesis 30:43. In this way the man grew exceedingly prosperous and came to own large flocks, and female and male servants, and camels and donkeys.
야곱은 이렇게 하여 아주 큰 부자가 되었다고 성경은 기록하고 있습니다.
Jacob did this and became a very wealthy man, as recorded in the Bible.
야곱이 사용한 방법은 생물학적으로 옳은 방법이 아닙니다.
The method Jacob used was not biologically correct.
그럼에도 하나님은 열심히 일한 야곱을 축복하셨습니다.
Nevertheless, God blessed Jacob for his hard work.
하나님은 이전에 벧엘에서 야곱에게 하신 약속을 지키셨습니다.
God kept the promise he made to Jacob earlier at Bethel.
창 28:15 내가 너와 함께 있어 네가 어디로 가든지 너를 지키며 너를 이끌어 이 땅으로 돌아오게 할찌라 내가 네게 허락한 것을 다 이루기까지 너를 떠나지 아니하리라 하신지라
Genesis 28:15 “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back
to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
이것이 하나님의 은혜입니다.
This is the grace of God.
결론입니다.
In conclusion,
야곱은 나이가 50대 중반의 나이가 들었습니다.
Jacob reached his mid-50s.
그 나이가 되도록 야곱은 빈손이었습니다.
By that age, Jacob was empty-handed.
그가 가진거라고는 아내 두 사람과 아아들이 12명이 었습니다.
All he had was two wives and twelve children.
그래서 야곱은 그의 장인에게 말했습니다.
So Jacob said to his father-in-law,
“내가 장인의 집에 처음 왔을 때 보다 지금은 많은 가축의 떼가 늘어났습니다.
“When I first came to your house, you had nothing, but now you have a large flock of livestock.
그런데 나는 빈손입니다.
But I am still empty-handed.
나도 처자식이 많은데 내 소유가 있어야 합니다.”
I also have many children, so I need to have my own possessions.”
야곱의 장인도 이 사실을 알고 있었습니다.
Jacob's father-in-law knew this fact as well.
그러나 그의 장인은 자신만 아는 사람이었습니다.
However, his father-in-law was a secretive person.
야곱은 그 상황을 헤치고 나가야 했습니다.
Jacob had to overcome this situation.
하나님이 도와 주셔야만 했습니다.
He needed God's help.
하나님은 스스로 일하는 자를 도와 주십니다.
God helps those who help themselves.
야곱은 하나님의 도우심으로 큰 부자가 되었습니다.
With God's assistance, Jacob became a wealthy man.
야곱은 가축 떼뿐만 아니라, 남종과 여종, 낙타와 나귀도 많이 가지게 되었습니다.
Jacob not only had a large flock of livestock but also many male and female servants, camels, and donkeys.
야곱은 부자가 되어서 고향으로 돌아가게 됩니다.
Jacob became rich and returned to his hometown.
이것은 열심히 일한 대가였습니다.
This was the price of consistent hard work.
이것은 포기하지 않은 대가였습니다.
This was the price of not giving up.
이것은 욕심을 부리지 않은 대가였습니다.
This was the price of not being greedy.
이것이 하나님의 은혜였습니다.
This was the grace of God.
우리도 목표를 가지고 열심히 일하여 하나님의 은혜가 임해야 겠습니다.
We must also have a goal and work hard so that God's grace comes upon us.
기도합시다.
Let us pray.
하나님 아버지 감사합니다.
Heavenly Father, thank you.
야곱은 50대 중반이 되도록 빈손이었습니다.
Jacob was empty-handed in his mid-50s.
하지만 하나님께서는 열심히 일했던 야곱을 축복하셨습니다.
But God blessed Jacob for his hard work.
야곱은 두 아내와 12명의 아들을 가졌습니다.
Jacob had two wives and twelve children.
야곱은 고향에 돌아가기를 원했습니다.
Jacob wanted to return to his hometown.
야곱은 자신의 재산을 갖기를 원했습니다.
Jacob wanted to have his own possessions.
하나님은 열심히 일하는 자를 도우십니다.
God helps those who work hard.
우리들에도 욕심부리지 않고 열심히 일하게 하여주세요.
Please let us work hard without being greedy as well.
우리도 꾸준히 일하게 하여주세요.
Let us also work steadily.
그 후에 우리도 묻고싶습니다.
After that, we also want to ask.
“우리들도 자신의 재산을 갖기를 원합니다.”
“We also want to have our own possessions.”
그럴 때 하나님 우리에게도 복을 내려 주세요.
